Hey, I’m MiMi STYLZ.

I’ve been doing hair for over 30 years, but this started way before I ever had a License. I was about 10 years old when my older sister became my very first client—and yep, she’s still in my chair.

I grew up going to the salon, so I’ve always loved that smell. You know the one. Shampoo, Conditioner, a little heat, a little hairspray…that smell felt like heaven to me. I also loved how I felt when I left the salon—confident, put together, and feeling good about myself. Somewhere along the way, I knew I wanted to give other people that same feeling.

I also always knew I’d be an Educator of some sort. I love learning, I love sharing what I know, and I believe people should understand their hair—not just sit in a chair and hope for the best.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with all different hair types, textures, and people. I’ve pretty much done it all—from Precision Pixie Cuts and Natural Hair to Sew-Ins, Braids with Weave, Wigs, Wig Creation, Nails, and even Makeup for a little while. I’ve worked in Privately Owned Salons, Franchises, and from home. I’ve done showcases, been featured in articles, and continued adding to my education and experience along the way.

Hair has also been with me through some of the hardest and most defining seasons of my life. I became a Widow the same day I became eight months pregnant with my son. There were moments when I honestly didn’t know what life was going to look like from there. But hair was still the thing I knew. It was something I could create, something I could teach, and something that gave me a way to connect with people while I was finding my own way again.

I always knew I wanted a Salon Suite of my own—something that felt like me and allowed me to do things my way. Four years ago, I got that suite, and ‘The Thairapy Suite’ came to me. It wasn’t some perfectly mapped-out master plan. It grew as I grew.

Today, I specialize in Natural Hair Care and Loc Care, with a strong focus on Healthy Hair, Loc Maintenance, Repair, Reconstruction, and Restoration. I’m my own Loc Specialist, and I’m constantly learning more about the craft because I’m not interested in doing things just because that’s how they’ve always been done.

And I really do this for the love of the hair.

I love giving the integrity back to hair. I love helping somebody look at their hair differently and, sometimes, helping them love their hair again. I love learning. I love teaching. I love the experience. And I love figuring out what a person’s hair actually needs instead of just doing what we’ve always done.

I’m an Expert, and I’m still a student. I’m serious about my craft, I take what I do seriously, and I’m always going to keep learning. There’s always something new to understand about hair, and that’s one of the things I love most about this industry.

The dream is still being created. As I grow, The Thairapy Suite grows with me. I’m not finished—and honestly, I don’t think I’m supposed to be.
